Jenny Löfgren, MD PhD*

Dr Löfgren is a physician and researcher at the Karolinska Institute. She carries out a broad spectrum of projects relating to global surgery. Groin hernia, breast cancer, surgical safety, training and health economics are central in the work. Dr Löfgren is one of the co-founders of the Global Surgery elective course at Karolinska Institutet.

Tomas Gustafsson, MD PhD

Dr Gustafsson is a resident physician in infectious disease medicine and a junior group leader at the department of Clinical Microbiology, Umeå University, Umeå. Dr. Gustafsson's research interests lie primarily in the fields of antibiotic development and clinical infectious disease medicine.

Joy Roy, MD PhD*

Dr Roy is a consultant vascular surgeon and an associate professor in surgery focusing on vascular surgery mainly in Sweden but also in Uganda. He is one of the co-founders of the elective course in Global Surgery for medical students at KI.

Helen Sinabulya, MD PhD*

Dr Sinabulya is a general surgeon, subspecialising in vascular surgery. Her research is mainly related to vascular surgery, in Sweden and in Uganda. She is one of the co-founders of the elective course in Global Surgery for medical students at KI.

Hampus Holmer, MD

Dr Holmer is a junior doctor at the Karolinska University Hospital and a doctoral student in Global Surgery at Lund University. His research focuses on the collection and use of data in Global Surgery. He has previously worked for the World Health Organization in Geneva and Sierra Leone, and was a research associate of the Harvard Program in Global Surgery and Social Change, and the Lancet Comission on Global Surgery.

Moritz Lindquist Liljeqvist, MD*

Dr Lindquist Liljeqvist is an intern at the Karolinska University Hospital and a PhD student in the vascular surgery research group at Karolinska Institutet.

Lin Sadi, MD

Dr Sadi is a fourth year surgical resident with a broad interest in global surgery. She has experience from working in the Central African Republic as a surgical trainee. As a medical student she founded NorPal-Sawa, which is a yearly exchange program for medical students between Norway and the West Bank.


Darius Barimani, MD

Dr Barimani is a general surgeon resident at Karolinska University Hospital. His research focuses on vanishing lesions or disappearing liver metastases but he also has an growing interest towards global surgery.

Antti Siika, MD*

Dr Siika is a PhD student in the vascular surgery research group at Karolinska Institutet, and has a growing interest towards research in Global Surgery.
